Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck, real name Tochukwu Ojogwu, has publicly criticized the Headies Awards after his acceptance speech was abruptly cut off during the 17th edition of the ceremony in Lagos.
The ‘Declan Rice’ crooner, who won Next Rated and Best Rap Single, claimed he was censored for referencing Jesus Christ on stage. “I was talking about Jesus and they tried to shut me down,” he wrote on Instagram.
The incident sparked confusion as organisers cut his mic, citing time constraints, but the rapper refused to leave the stage, remaining there with his mother and entourage until the microphone was restored.
Despite the tense moment, Odumodublvck later expressed forgiveness towards the organisers: “I genuinely have no bad blood… I’m grateful they put my mic back on to spread the gospel.”
The 2025 edition of the Headies marked the award show’s return to Nigeria after two years abroad.
