50 Cent seizes ex-employee’s home over embezzlement

50 Cent Fires Back at Critics of His Las Vegas Residency with Bold Statement

50 Cent has been granted legal authority to take possession of a former employee’s house after the individual admitted to embezzling funds.

A judge ruled in favor of the rapper, allowing him to claim the property as part of the repayment for a multi-million-dollar debt.

Curtis Jackson III, known professionally as 50 Cent, began legal action against Mitchell Green—formerly an executive at his company, Sire Spirits—four years ago. Green had confessed to embezzling millions of dollars from the business.

Green orchestrated a scheme in which he artificially inflated the prices of Sire Spirits’ cognac and champagne, collecting illicit “kickbacks” from distributors. These were misleadingly labeled as “agency fees” in the company’s financial records.

He later escalated the fraud by siphoning funds directly from the company, prompted by an attempted blackmail from an unidentified individual.

In November 2022, Green was ordered to pay approximately $6.3 million (£4.7 million) in damages and legal fees. But by March 2023, he had declared bankruptcy. As a result, his Connecticut property—valued at about $1 million (£740,000)—was temporarily protected under bankruptcy law.

Recently, 50 Cent’s lawyers argued that the property should not be shielded by the bankruptcy stay because its value was far below the total debt owed. The court agreed.

With interest included, Green’s total debt now stands at roughly $7 million (£5.1 million).
