American rapper and YouTuber Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., popularly known as DDG, has revealed plans to acquire a home in Lagos, Nigeria, as he continues to navigate a contentious custody battle with his ex-girlfriend and singer, Halle Bailey.
The entertainer, who first disclosed his intentions to relocate to Lagos in March due to dissatisfaction with life in the United States, took to his X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday to seek recommendations on suitable locations to invest in property.
“Finna buy a house in Lagos, Nigeria. What’s a good area?” DDG wrote.
The post has since stirred conversation online, with many Nigerians offering suggestions and welcoming the rapper’s interest in the country.
Meanwhile, in a related development, DDG’s legal team has addressed recent reports suggesting that he was denied a temporary restraining order (TRO) against Bailey. In a statement, his attorney clarified that the court did in fact grant a TRO based on “serious allegations” outlined in his application.
“The Temporary Restraining Order was granted,” the statement read. “Custody-related issues remain pending and are subject to a full evidentiary hearing, where both parties will have the opportunity to present their claims and defenses.”
The legal dispute between DDG and Bailey continues to unfold, drawing significant public interest as it intersects with both celebrity culture and sensitive family matters.
As DDG eyes a new chapter in Lagos, his potential relocation could further deepen cultural ties between African-American entertainers and Nigeria’s vibrant urban scene.
