Shehu Sani Reacts to Fubara-Wike Reconciliation, Calls for Peace in Rivers State

Former Senator Shehu Sani has reacted to the ongoing reconciliation between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his estranged political mentor, Nyesom Wike, describing it as a welcome development.

Sani made the remarks following a high-level peace meeting brokered by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where both Fubara and Wike, along with members of the State House of Assembly, agreed to work towards restoring political stability in the state.

In a post on Friday via his X handle, Sani said peace must be allowed to return to Rivers State, though he noted that the political battle may not be completely over.

“The reconciliation efforts in Rivers is good news. Peace needs to return to the state and Fubara needs to return to his seat as soon as possible,” he wrote.

“I know that those who fought for Fubara are not happy and want him to continue fighting. Fubara is Sim and not Comrade Sowore.

“The battle may not be over but let peace return to Rivers for now.”

Sani’s comments highlight the delicate balance in the ongoing crisis, where Fubara’s supporters may feel betrayed by the truce, but the broader call is for governance and stability to take precedence.
