Big Brother Naija alum Uriel Oputa has sparked conversation on social media after raising concerns about a growing trend among Igbo men.
The reality star expressed her disapproval over what she described as the increasing number of Igbo men marrying women old enough to be their mothers — a move she believes is less about love and more about securing foreign passports.
“The rate at which my Igbo brothers are marrying women old enough to be their mothers is alarming,” Uriel wrote.
She suggested that the motive behind many of these unions is more transactional than emotional, driven by the pursuit of residency or citizenship abroad.
The post has since drawn mixed reactions, with some supporting her for speaking up, while others accused her of generalizing.
Uriel, who is known for her candid takes on love, relationships, and cultural issues, remains one of the more outspoken alumni of the BBNaija franchise.
