Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Uriel Oputa, has shared an emotional story about enduring six months of homelessness in Lagos after giving up everything to care for her mother in London.
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Uriel Oputa revealed that she sold her car and gave up her apartment in November 2023, intending to move permanently to the UK following a new medical diagnosis for her mother.
However, her plans took an unexpected turn in December when her brother encouraged her to return to Lagos, leaving her confused, heartbroken, and without a place to stay.
With no clear direction, Uriel Oputa checked into a shortlet apartment that cost ₦150,000 per day. Despite not knowing how she would afford it, she miraculously managed to pay for her stay.
“I ended up in a shortlet apartment paying ₦150,000 per day. I didn’t know how I was going to pay for it. But somehow, I did,” she wrote.
After two months, the apartment owners gave her a discount of ₦100,000 per day, and by May, they even allowed her to stay for free for an entire month in appreciation of her long stay.
Uriel Oputa credited this act of kindness and the grace of God for giving her the room she needed to breathe and rebuild. During her stay, her juice and meal plan business began to flourish unexpectedly, with steady orders and income.
“In that space of not knowing what to do, I started praying… Money started coming in. I started paying weekly. Sometimes every 10 days,” she shared.
She also praised the shortlet owners for their patience and support, noting that they never pressured her during the difficult time.
Now, after six months, Uriel Oputa has moved into her own apartment once again and expressed deep gratitude for the journey.
“If you’re in a season where you’ve let everything go and don’t know how you’ll land, this is your reminder: God provides. Even when there’s no plan,” she concluded.
Uriel’s story has since drawn support and admiration from fans and followers, who hailed her resilience and faith during one of the most difficult periods of her life.
