Nigerian passenger Comfort Emmanson has broken her silence over the controversial incident that occurred on an Ibom Air flight from Abuja to Lagos on August 10, which led to her arrest and a heated public debate.
In her detailed account, Emmanson explained that the issue started during boarding when a flight attendant instructed her to switch off her phones.
She said one of her devices had a faulty power button, making it difficult to shut down. With the help of a fellow passenger, she eventually turned off both phones through the settings and assumed the matter was resolved.
According to her, the situation escalated only after the plane landed in Lagos. She stated that she had briefly used the toilet before disembarking, and by the time she came out, most passengers had already exited. While hurrying to leave, she claimed the same flight attendant blocked her path and refused to let her leave the aircraft.
Emmanson recounted that when she attempted to record the confrontation on her phone, the attendant allegedly pulled at her hair frontal, necklace, and clothes, leaving her with injuries and damaged belongings.
She further alleged that security officers later entered the aircraft, restrained her, and forcefully dragged her outside. The struggle, she said, left her partially exposed while several bystanders filmed the incident as she tried to cover herself.
The incident has since sparked mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians calling for a thorough investigation into the clash between the passenger and the airline staff.
