The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has invited Comfort Emmanson, Juliana Edward, and members of Ibom Air’s cabin crew for further questioning over the August 10 incident aboard a Uyo–Lagos flight.
Viral clips had shown Emmanson being dragged by Ibom Air staff, sparking outrage and widespread debate.
Mr. Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at NCAA, confirmed the development on Tuesday during the ongoing Emergency National Civil Aviation Security Committee and Stakeholders’ Meeting in Abuja.
According to him, Emmanson had already met with NCAA officials earlier in the day and, alongside the Ibom Air cabin crew, is expected to appear before the Authority on Wednesday for continued investigation.
“I have spoken with Ms. Emmanson this morning. We are also inviting the Ibom Air cabin crew for continued investigation on the incident. They will be here tomorrow,” Achimugu stated.
He explained that the pilot-in-command did not immediately alert security operatives upon arrival in Lagos, as the dispute seemed to have been resolved before the aircraft left Uyo. However, Emmanson, who was the last to disembark after visiting the restroom, reportedly drew renewed attention to the matter.
Achimugu assured stakeholders that NCAA would conduct a thorough probe to establish the facts behind the scuffle.
Also addressing the meeting, Senator Buhari Abdulfatai, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Aviation, decried lapses in professional conduct among airport workers and rising unruly passenger behaviour, urging aviation agencies to support NCAA in enforcing discipline and safeguarding the industry.
