Atalanta have officially confirmed the dismissal of head coach Ivan Juric following a disappointing run of results and a 3-0 home defeat to newly-promoted Sassuolo on Sunday in Serie A.
Juric, who replaced long-serving manager Gian Piero Gasperini during the summer, leaves the club sitting 13th in the Serie A standings with just two wins from 11 matches this season.
La Dea’s form has been poor in recent weeks, with the team managing only six points from their last eight league games, including six consecutive draws before back-to-back losses.
According to reports, Juric had been informed that his last two matches — against Marseille in the Champions League and Sassuolo in Serie A — would determine his future at the club.
Although Atalanta secured a victory over Marseille, Juric still made headlines for a heated sideline exchange with Ademola Lookman. However, the subsequent 3-0 loss to Sassuolo sealed his fate.
In an interesting twist, Juric’s sacking comes exactly one year after he was dismissed by AS Roma on December 10, 2024.
The club released an official statement confirming his departure:
“Atalanta BC announces that Ivan Juric has been relieved of his position as head coach of the first team, along with his closest members of staff, namely Matteo Paro, Miguel Veloso, Pablo Barbero, Stjepan Ostojic and Michele Orecchio.
Atalanta thanks Ivan Juric and his staff for their efforts and wishes them all the best for the future.”
Reports in Italy suggest that former Monza and Fiorentina boss Raffaele Palladino is the leading candidate to replace Juric as Atalanta’s new manager.
