I’ve helped more people in music industry than Olamide, Don Jazzy, others – Portable

Portable Flaunts New Makeover, Declares Himself “Mr Nigeria”

Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has stirred fresh debate after claiming he has assisted more people in the music industry than top stars Olamide, Don Jazzy, Wizkid and Davido.

In a new video, the Zazu crooner insisted that his contributions go beyond the entertainment space, extending to the less privileged and everyday Nigerians.

Portable criticised what he described as the “ego” of many celebrities, saying unlike his colleagues, he freely associates with ordinary people and consistently interacts with them on social media.

He said:

“Many Nigerian celebrities don’t post their fans even if they dance to their songs or promote them. But I repost every positive video about me.”

The singer also claimed that most established artistes do not genuinely support upcoming acts, arguing that many only collaborate when money is involved.

“Even with your money, many celebrities won’t let you feature them as an upcoming artist. But I help people freely. I have helped more people in the music industry than Don Jazzy, Olamide, Wizkid, and Davido,” he said.

Portable stressed that real help involves providing shelter, clothing, food and opportunities for struggling individuals—not transactional arrangements disguised as support.

“Help is when you see a homeless person and take them home, shelter them, clothe and feed them. You also take them to their first studio session and pay for it. Anything other than that, you are just doing business.”

He added that many big names in the industry accuse artistes of being ungrateful when they choose independence, even though they were only being used for commercial gain.

“Most of the time, when the artists they are using for business decide to be independent or move forward, they label them ungrateful. How are they ungrateful? You only used them for business.”

Portable’s comments have sparked widespread reactions online, with fans divided over his claims and industry observations.
