The late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, has been laid to rest in Abuja, marking the end of a distinguished military career that spanned decades amidst tears and tributes.
His funeral rites began in Lagos earlier in the week before he was laid to rest at the National Cemetery in the nation’s capital.
The ceremony lasted over two hours before his body was laid to rest at 4:41 pm.
Lagbaja’s casket, adorned in Nigeria’s green and white colors, arrived at the cemetery in a white funeral wagon following a service at the National Christian Centre in Abuja.
Prior to his internment, a service of songs was held at the Army Headquarters Garrison Parade Ground, Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja. His body arrived in Abuja via a Nigerian Air Force airplane at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around 12:15 pm on Thursday.
