Ruben Amorim, who recently turned 40, humorously remarked that his time as Manchester United manager has aged him 10 years in just two months.
Taking over from Erik ten Hag in November 2024, the Portuguese coach inherited a team in need of stability in the Premier League.
Despite maintaining his tactical approach from his successful tenure at Sporting, Amorim has faced challenges, including seven losses in his first 17 games and making difficult decisions regarding players like Marcus Rashford.
Amorim jokingly admits that the stress of managing a top club has made him feel much older than he actually is, especially as he celebrated his birthday on January 27.
After being offered best wishes by BBC Sport, he responded with: “It’s not 40, it’s 50. After two months at Manchester United, it’s 50! It’s a pleasure to spend my birthday here. You have a great country. I will enjoy more tomorrow with the win.”
