Nigerian singer Tems once again made history, winning the Best African Music Performance category at the 67th Grammy Awards with her song “Love Me JeJe.”
The 29-year-old triumphed over a strong lineup, including Yemi Alade’s ‘Tomorrow’, Asake and Wizkid’s ‘MMS’, Chris Brown, Davido, and Lojay’s ‘Sensational’, and Burna Boy’s ‘Higher’ to claim her second Grammy.

Tems and Her Mother Share a Special Moment
In a heartfelt interview with Entertainment Tonight, Tems expressed her excitement and revealed that her mother, Mrs. Openiyi, was at the event.

“It’s everything, honestly. It’s been a dream. My mom’s around, she’s back there somewhere,” she said.
Her mother, overwhelmed with emotion, described the experience as surreal.
“I am so happy, I don’t even know what to do now,” she said when asked how it felt to watch her daughter win.
When asked who would keep the Grammy trophy, Tems emphasized her strong bond with her mother:
“I do, but what I have is hers, so we share it. We share everything I have.”
Dedicating the Grammy to Her Mother
During her acceptance speech, Tems dedicated the award to her mother, making the moment even more special as it coincided with her birthday.
“Tomorrow is my mum’s birthday, and this is her first Grammy. I just want to thank you, ma, because she has really done a lot for me and my brother. Happy birthday, mum.”
A Rising Legacy in the Music Industry
Tems was nominated in three categories at the 67th Grammys, bringing her total career nominations to eight. She was also up for:
🔹 Best Global Music Album (Born in the Wild)
🔹 Best R&B Song (Burning)
This marks her second Grammy win, following her 2023 victory for Best Melodic Rap Performance on Wait for U with Future and Drake.
The 67th Grammy Awards took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with Tems solidifying her place as one of Africa’s most celebrated artists.
