Big Brother Naija alum Uriel Oputa has issued a fiery public service announcement after a recent uncomfortable encounter with a fan during a shopping trip.
Taking to her Instagram Story, the reality TV star and chef recounted how a fan blocked her path at a supermarket early in the morning to take selfies—even though she was dressed casually and clearly not in the mood for photos.
“I’m shopping, minding my business, about to pay, and you blocked me from taking a selfie,” Uriel wrote.
“Then, as if that’s not enough, you go and start looking for someone else to take a proper picture… I came to buy things, not strike poses!”
What upset her further was the fan’s attempt to shake her hand, something Uriel has repeatedly said she is not comfortable with.
“After all of that, you still stretch your hand to shake me? After I’ve said multiple times I don’t shake hands—not because I’m proud or rude, but because I’ve seen too much.”
Uriel concluded her message by questioning the sense of personal boundaries among some Nigerians, saying:
“Is there a brain cell we need to resurrect or recharge with NEPA light? Because I’m not understanding what’s going on.”
Uriel’s Stand on Personal Hygiene
This is not the first time Uriel Oputa has emphasized her concern for hygiene and boundaries. She has often used her platform to advocate for health consciousness, especially in public settings.
While her message has sparked mixed reactions online—some agreeing with her stance, others calling it dramatic—it highlights the ongoing debate around celebrity boundaries and fan behavior in Nigeria.
