Jessie J has revealed she was left “frustrated” after her planned cancer surgery was unexpectedly postponed.
The Price Tag singer, who underwent a mastectomy in June as part of her breast cancer treatment, had been preparing for a second operation and even rescheduled her 2025 tour to accommodate the procedure. However, she shared on Monday that the surgery has been delayed.
In a candid video posted on Instagram, Jessie explained, “Some of you may know, some of you may not know, I was supposed to have a second breast surgery two weeks ago. So a week before my surgery, I went to my surgeon and we discussed my surgery, and it felt a little more complex than he was anticipating and referred me to a different surgeon who I then saw, had a meeting with, who said: ‘I think this can wait a little while.'”
Jessie J continued, “Obviously, I’d already cancelled my tour so I was obviously frustrated, but again it’s out of my control and two different surgeons had two different opinions.”
The 37-year-old singer said she is now trying to “make the best” of the situation, shifting her focus to reorganising new dates for her rescheduled U.S. tour — what she humorously called going into “Jessie J mum stealth mode.”
Fans who had tickets for the postponed shows will be given the first chance to purchase tickets for the new dates on Tuesday, before general sales open on Friday.
Despite the setback, Jessie J made an emotional return to the stage last month for her first live performance since her surgery. The Domino star performed at the BBC Radio 2 In The Park event in Essex, where she reflected on her journey and expressed gratitude to her fans.
“I had breast cancer surgery 11 weeks ago today,” she told the crowd. “And the last show I did, I had no idea what was gonna happen, and I’m still very much in the recovery process.”
Jessie’s openness has continued to inspire fans as she navigates her health challenges with honesty and resilience.
