Sabrina Carpenter is expanding her creative empire — this time on the big screen. The global pop sensation is set to star in and produce an upcoming musical film inspired by Lewis Carroll’s classic tale, Alice in Wonderland.
The project, which is still untitled, marks Sabrina Carpenter’s first major studio film under Universal Pictures and is described as a modern, music-driven reimagining of Carroll’s timeless story about a young girl who falls down a rabbit hole into a world of wonder and chaos.
While Carpenter’s exact role remains under wraps, industry insiders describe the film as a “passion project” for the Please Please Please singer, who has recently become one of pop music’s defining voices.
The feature will be written and directed by Lorene Scafaria, best known for her acclaimed 2019 hit Hustlers, starring Jennifer Lopez. Scafaria also directed episodes of HBO’s Succession and the musical dramedy I Love LA.
Sabrina Carpenter’s career continues to soar — she recently earned six Grammy nominations for her chart-topping album Man’s Best Friend, including Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Song of the Year for Manchild.
Although this will be her biggest film role to date, Carpenter is no stranger to acting. Her previous credits include The Hate U Give, Emergency, and the beloved Disney Channel series Girl Meets World. She’s also set to guest star in an upcoming Muppets special for Disney+.
