Lagos socialite and nightlife entrepreneur Mike Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, has reopened his Proxy Lagos nightclub nearly seven months after it was shut down following a raid by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
In a video shared on Instagram, Pretty Mike reflected on the difficult period that followed the October 2025 raid, describing it as a challenging phase for his business and personal life.
“For me, that moment was burying my father, my hero… I’m still human and that event just broke me in ways that I’m still trying to understand,” he said, revealing that the closure coincided with a personal loss.
He described the raid as a “storm” that affected his reputation, team and family, but confirmed that the club has now been cleared to reopen.
“Proxy is more than a nightclub. It’s a culture. It’s a vibe. It’s where Lagos comes alive,” he added, thanking supporters who stood by him during what he called a “season of heavy silence.”
The club was initially shut down after an NDLEA operation at the Victoria Island venue led to the arrest of over 100 individuals, including Pretty Mike and former BBNaija housemate Tuoyo Ideh. Authorities said banned substances were recovered during the raid.
Following the incident, Pretty Mike and the club’s supervisor were charged with offences including conspiracy and unlawful possession, while a Federal High Court in Lagos granted him bail set at ₦50 million.
The reopening comes after a court ruling that dismissed the agency’s attempt to keep the premises sealed, stating that there were no sufficient grounds to delay its unsealing while legal proceedings continue.
The return of Proxy Lagos signals a comeback for one of the city’s most talked about nightlife spots, as Pretty Mike looks to rebuild after months of legal and personal challenges.
