Nollywood actress Sandra Okunzuwa has opened up about the emotional cost of filming romantic scenes, revealing that one of her relationships ended because of a kissing scene she filmed on set.
The actress shared the deeply personal experience during an appearance on the BTS Reality Show, where she spoke candidly about how many people misunderstand what actually happens behind the scenes during intimate movie moments.
According to Sandra, audiences often assume actors enjoy romantic scenes while filming, but the reality is far from glamorous.
“If you have twenty people watching you while kissing in the movie, it is impossible to enjoy it,” she explained.
The actress stressed that movie sets are highly professional environments filled with cameras, directors, crew members, lighting equipment, and constant interruptions, making emotional intimacy almost impossible.
“It is impossible to get in the mood,” she added.
Sandra also admitted that romantic scenes in films can create serious problems in personal relationships, especially when partners struggle to distinguish between acting and reality.
Speaking from experience, she revealed that one of her previous relationships eventually collapsed after her boyfriend reacted badly to a kissing scene he saw her perform in a movie.
“These things affect our personal relationships. For instance, I had to leave a relationship because of this,” she revealed.
The actress did not identify the former partner, but her comments immediately sparked online conversations about the pressures actors face in balancing public careers with private relationships.
Sandra further explained that dating actresses is not easy and said she understands why some people avoid relationships with entertainers entirely.
“It is hard; it is not easy,” she admitted.
“I do not blame people who say they cannot date actresses because it is not everyone who can take certain things.”
The actress also suggested she would support reducing or even removing kissing scenes from films if audiences could still connect emotionally with movies without them.
Her comments have reignited debates about intimacy in Nollywood productions, especially as more actors continue to speak openly about the emotional and relationship challenges associated with romantic roles.
Sandra Okunzuwa entered Nollywood in 2018 after attending an audition alongside a friend, then later trained at the Royal Arts Academy.
Since then, she has steadily built a reputation as both an actress and producer, featuring in movies such as Something Like Gold, The Wildflower, and Honey Money.
Beyond acting, Sandra is also a trained lawyer, something many fans often find surprising given her growing presence in Nollywood.
Now, with her latest revelation, the actress has given fans a rare glimpse into the personal sacrifices and emotional complications that sometimes come with life in the entertainment industry.
