Isaac Aloma, also known as ZicSaloma, a popular skit maker, recently shared that he used to work as a lecturer at the Kaduna Polytechnic but decided to leave to focus on his career in skit making due to the low salary he was receiving.
During a podcast interview with actress Iyabo Ojo, ZicSaloma revealed that he has always been determined to achieve success.
He mentioned that he started pursuing his master’s degree while completing his youth service.
After his service, he was offered a lecturer position at Kadpoly, where he continued to work.
Recalling his time as a lecturer, ZicSaloma revealed that he was also actively involved in auditions for singing competitions and even took part in an edition of The Voice Nigeria.
ZicSaloma stated that his venture into skit making was not planned and that he faced many challenges in the beginning.
However, after three years of hard work and perseverance, he finally started gaining popularity and success in the industry.
ZicSaloma said, “I started making skits unplanned. It wasn’t something I took seriously but it was gaining traction. At first, I was posting my skits on Facebook, and my Facebook friends seemed to like it. They encouraged me to do more. I just kept doing it. I did it for like three years. My fan base wasn’t growing but the people who liked it liked it.
“Then until the lockdown period when I joined Tiktok, my contents started flying organically.
“At a point, I told my boss that I was quitting my lecturing job and she was like, ‘Are you sure you know what you’re doing?’ I’m done with lecturing. How much is the lecturer’s salary? [laughs]”
He added that when he left lecturing, he wasn’t even successful yet.
