Seyi Tinubu has publicly reacted to the disappointing primary election loss suffered by celebrity businessman Cubana Chief Priest, offering him words of encouragement after his failed bid to secure an APC House of Representatives ticket.
Cubana Chief Priest, whose real name is Pascal Okechukwu, contested for the All Progressives Congress ticket to represent Orsu, Orlu, and Oru East Federal Constituency in Imo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
However, the nightlife promoter suffered a major setback after losing the primary election to incumbent lawmaker Canice Nwachukwu.
According to reports from the primary, Cubana Chief Priest secured only 14 votes.
Shortly after the result surfaced online, Seyi Tinubu took to Instagram to encourage the socialite, a message that later gained attention after Cubana reposted it on his page.
“Bro, sometimes by losing a battle, you find a new way to win the war. Keep your head up @cubana_chiefpriest. We know what you are capable of achieving,” Seyi wrote.
The message immediately sparked reactions online, especially among supporters of the businessman, who had strongly backed his political ambitions over recent months.
Cubana Chief Priest has been one of the most visible celebrity supporters associated with the APC and the City Boys Movement linked to President Bola Tinubu.
He currently serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the movement and has repeatedly declared interest in youth empowerment and grassroots politics before entering the race.
Reacting personally to the loss in a viral video, Cubana Chief Priest said he did not regret contesting, despite the outcome.
“I’m a hustler, and I didn’t regret trying to contest for a position,” he said.
“My only regret was trusting the elders in the community.”
The socialite also expressed disappointment with the level of support he eventually received, despite claiming he had invested heavily in the process.
“I know how much I gave them, but only 14 people voted for me in the primary,” he added.
His defeat quickly became a trending topic across social media, with reactions sharply divided.
While some users praised him for stepping into politics and trying something beyond the entertainment and nightlife business, others mocked the low vote count and questioned the strength of his political influence despite his celebrity status.
Still, supporters insist the loss may only be the beginning of his political journey, especially after receiving public encouragement from Seyi Tinubu following the outcome.
