Sammy West, the brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, has reportedly been remanded in Keffi Prison following a court appearance in Abuja.
A viral video circulating online shows Sammy appearing in court looking visibly downcast — marking one of the first public sightings of him since reports of his arrest surfaced.
Regina’s mother, Rita Daniels, and actress Mercy Johnson in Abuja, are reportedly working together to secure his release.
The latest development comes shortly after Regina revealed that her estranged parents had reconciled to support her amid rising tensions with her billionaire husband, Ned Nwoko.
The actress also launched the #FreeSammyWest campaign, alleging that her brother’s detention was linked to her ongoing marital crisis.
In a new statement shared on social media, Regina’s brother Sweezy claimed that Sammy had been transferred to Keffi Prison in Nasarawa under questionable circumstances. He accused Nwoko of using his political influence to manipulate the judicial process.
Sweezy wrote:
“He is currently at Keffi Prison! Dutse Magistrate has suddenly disappeared. Ned, you can pay everybody but you can’t pay for integrity! Sammy is currently in prison. Everyone please help me ask Ned what is Sammy’s offense?
Sammy said my lawyers are on their way. I was not given an opportunity to call no one! Please can I call them? Judge say remand him till they can file for his bail. Bail has been filed, magistrate has disappeared, no one available to sign. You sha want make he test the prison?? Ned, the most powerful man in the universe, you still no fit big pass God! He wants to be remanded in prison till the 28th of November!”
The situation has sparked widespread concern across social media, with fans and Nollywood colleagues calling for transparency and justice in the case.
As of the time of this report, Ned Nwoko has not publicly responded to the fresh allegations surrounding Sammy’s detention.
